Getting into Purvottanasana

From Dandasana, place your hands on the floor behind your hips, fingers pointing toward your feet. Bend your knees, press your feet and hands down, and lift your hips up until your body forms a straight line from shoulders to knees, like a reverse tabletop. Let your head tilt gently back if your neck allows it.

What a teacher would tell you

  • Toes toward the floor.
  • Lift the hips high.
  • Press down through the hands.

These are the corrections My Ashtanga speaks aloud while you hold the posture.
