Getting into Virabhadrasana A

From Downward Dog or standing, step your right foot forward between your hands and pivot your left heel down at roughly a 45-degree angle. Bend your right knee to a right angle over your right ankle, square your hips forward, and inhale your arms straight overhead, palms facing each other.

Described on the right side. On the left, swap right for left throughout.

What a teacher would tell you

  • Back heel grounded.
  • Square the hips forward.
  • Reach up strongly.
  • Reach up through the arms.

These are the corrections My Ashtanga speaks aloud while you hold the posture.
