Getting into Padangusthasana
From standing, step or fold your feet hip-width apart. Exhale and fold forward from the hips, hooking your first two fingers and thumb around each big toe. Keep your legs active and your elbows bending out to the sides as you fold deeper on each exhale, drawing your torso toward your thighs rather than just your head toward the floor.
What a teacher would tell you
- Catch your big toes and pull evenly.
- Elbows pointing out to the sides.
- Lift the chest as you fold.
These are the corrections My Ashtanga speaks aloud while you hold the posture.
