Getting into Kurmasana

Sitting with your legs wide apart and knees bent, lean forward and slide one arm at a time underneath the corresponding knee, so your shoulders go under your thighs. Straighten your legs out to the sides as you lower your torso and chin toward the floor, walking your heels forward and pressing your palms flat on the floor beyond them.

What a teacher would tell you

  • Shoulders under the knees.
  • Legs straight and active.
  • Chest and chin toward the floor.

These are the corrections My Ashtanga speaks aloud while you hold the posture.
