Getting into Utthita Trikonasana
Step your feet about a leg's-length apart. Turn your right foot out 90 degrees and your left foot in slightly. Extend your torso sideways over your right leg, and bring your right hand to your shin, ankle, or the floor outside your right foot. Extend your left arm straight up toward the ceiling so your arms form one straight line, and turn your gaze up toward your top hand.
Described on the right side. On the left, swap right for left throughout.
What a teacher would tell you
- Look up toward your hand.
- Lift the inner thigh of the back leg.
- Extend both sides of the waist equally.
These are the corrections My Ashtanga speaks aloud while you hold the posture.
